Sishui County Micro-Public Welfare Association

Interviewer 1 information:

Name: Li Chunhong

Job title: Resident volunteer of Surabaya Micro-Public Welfare Volunteer Service Team

Interview time: 10:00 am on January 13, 2022

Interview location: New Media Classroom on the second floor of Sishui County Micro-Public Welfare Association

Interview record of Interviewer 1:

Q1: As a volunteer education group, how do we deal with parents? It is relatively simple, usually in the form of home visits. The Surabaya Micro-Public Welfare Association innovatively uses the form of family classes to teach parents, which is refreshing. How did you come up with this form?

Li: I thought of this project partly for my own reasons. I am also the mother of two children, one is 5 years old and the other is 15 years old. I am also going through the adolescence of my children and the transition of a second-child family. Some problems include children's rebelliousness in adolescence and the belief that parents only care about their younger siblings and not themselves. When I faced these problems, I very much hoped that someone could teach me what to do and compare them with others. I wondered if the parents of the children we sponsor would also encounter such problems. Could anyone tell me? What should they do and so on. Therefore, our Micro-Public Welfare Association has launched the Parent Classroom project, hoping to improve parents’ communication skills and ability to get along with their children.

Q2: What are the specific contents of our parent class?

Li: With the continuous development of time, our class content has gradually become diversified. At the beginning, our focus was on tutoring parents, in the form of lectures. We invited the principal of a local primary school. He has a deep understanding of education and the quality of his classes is also very high. We conducted classes every weekend for about three months, but the effect was not very good, and fewer and fewer parents came to listen. What we think is that the classroom format is not attractive enough, because to be honest, the parents of the children we help are not very educated and are not very willing to participate in such purely classroom activities. Another thing is that in terms of class content, simply teaching skills in getting along with children is a bit monotonous, which sounds boring to parents. So we are also gradually improving our classroom content. One is that we added parent-child interaction and designed some small games. What impressed me most was that parents were asked to stand in a row, blindfold their children, and let the children choose their parents by touching their parents' hands. She was a little girl at the time, and she held her grandma's hand and gently touched the calluses and scars on her grandma's hand. The whole family cried there, which was really touching. Another thing is that we have also improved the class content and added some life tips. For example, now that it is winter, we have taught parents some knowledge about children's health care in winter, what should and should not be eaten in winter, etc., and the harvest has been good. response.

Q3: Our classroom content is indeed very rich, what is the feedback from parents?

Li: The response from parents is quite good. Many parents come to listen to our classes and participate in our activities. They have gained a lot, but there are also some problems. Because our parents are indeed very busy. Everyone wants to spend more time with their children and give their children a better life, but time does not allow it. Even on weekends, many parents need to go to work, so this time arrangement It is indeed a flaw in our activity.

Q4: Do you have any solutions to the problem of parents’ time arrangement?

Li: What we want to do is to put in our efforts in normal times and organize parents in the same village to form a small group to help each other. As the saying goes, "Far relatives are not as good as close neighbors." Our volunteers go there once a week, but usually we still need help from those nearby, especially parents from the same village. For example, some parents did not come to this event due to work, busy farming, etc., but parents from the same village came, so they could help each other and exchange information on the content of the course. Another is that if our children have any serious diseases, such as depression, autism, etc., it cannot be solved by our volunteers going there once a week and chatting in a few words. What is more important is the people around them. A help, this small group of parents plays a role in helping each other.

Q5: In addition to the parent classroom project, we are also very interested in the children's service station project. Can you introduce this project to us in detail?

Li: This children's service station project is mainly to provide collective psychological counseling and give children an outlet to vent their emotions. Many children I meet are particularly eager to be cared for by their families. However, his family cannot give him such care due to various reasons, which leads some children to adopt particularly extreme methods to obtain their parents' care. For example, we have a little girl. Her mother has a very serious mental illness. She cannot take care of herself, eat, drink, or even relieve herself, let alone give her motherly love. The last time I went there, I saw the little girl scratching her arms. It was scary, but more distressing. There are also some children who are not sick themselves and then pretend to be sick, and even think autism is a good thing. It means that after you are sick, your parents will pamper you more, pamper you, and won't tell you to do this or that, and the teachers will look at you more in school, etc. Our children's service station just wants to help children solve this problem, that is, to help them establish some correct concepts, and more importantly, to give children an outlet to vent their emotions, give them more care, and try to prevent them from taking any actions. Some extreme ways to get care and so on. Just like a volcano, if you don't care about it, it will definitely erupt. If you can dig a channel to drain the pressure of the magma, then it will not erupt again.

Q6: As the saying goes, "travel thousands of miles, read thousands of books", the project "Take You to See the World" is a study trip where volunteers take children on study tours. What is the original intention of our association in designing this project? Woolen cloth?

Li: The original intention of designing this project is actually the name of this project, Show You the World, just to broaden the children's horizons and take the children out to see. Some of the children we help, let alone go out to see them, many of them have never even been out of our county. Once, I drove a few children from the village to the city to participate in an event. When I went back at night, they looked at the decorative light upstairs on the road and were very curious. I stopped the car and took them to see it. In fact, it is the kind of ambient light outside the building. It may be an inconspicuous decoration to students in the city, but these children are very excited when they look at this light. This incident really touched me a lot, so I wanted to take our children out to see it and gain more experience. Now the "Take You to See the World" project is relatively mature, and we have also outsourced it to some college student volunteer service groups to do this. They are also very responsible. Sometimes they even feel carsick and seasick, but they don't forget to take good care of our children.

Q7: How do you think short-term teaching activities during winter and summer vacations like ours will help the association?

Li: The university student group has two main functions. One is to give us more manpower, and the other is to make the project more professional. There are a total of twelve full-time volunteers in our association, including me, but we have more than 2,400 registered children. A lot of work, such as visiting rural areas, organizing data, and handing over files, are all done by groups of college students. Another is that some professional problems need to be solved by a team of college students. For example, I want a logo for this project, but I have not studied relevant professional knowledge, so it is difficult to do it. But this may not be a problem for you. If you have students majoring in design, you can help us design this logo. There are many things I want to do, but I don’t have the weapons to do them. Your college students are helping us build this weapon.

Relevant comrades from the Municipal Recruitment Office said that these 93 young women stood out from the 208 young women who registered online in the city. They passed the review of academic qualifications, household registration and age before being shortlisted for the preliminary examination. The initial inspection items on the day include verification of academic qualifications and household registration, height measurement, vision test and weight weighing. The right eye vision and left eye vision requirements are not less than 4.6 and 4.5 respectively. The height requirement is 1.60 meters, but they have a row of ear piercings and tattoos.
